|

|
|
Versatile, high density
power protection for computer Networks
telecommunications, and industrial applications
Smart-UPS RT is a family of high preformance UPSs for servers,
networking equipment, telecommunication systems, industrial and medical
equipment, and other mission-critical applications. Smart-UPS RT UPSs are
based on the field-proven, industry-leading Smart-UPS functionality, but
features double conversion on-line topology, which delivers tight voltage
and frequency regulation, zero transfer time to and from battery, and input
power factor correction. While offering advanced performance and high
availability features, the Smart-UPS RT can be managed using PowerChute
software, as well as an array of SmartSlot accessories. Smart-UPS RT
provides battery back up to the load through the use of internal batteries.
However, an unlimited number of external battery packs can be added to meet
desired levels of runtime. All Smart-UPS RTs and battery packs ship in
tower configuration, while easily converting to the 19" rack-mount
mode with the addition of an APC Rail Kit.

|
|
Availability
Double Conversion On-Line
No interruption for your mission critical applications
when the UPS transfers to and from the batteries.
Continuous Voltage and Frequency Regulation
Smart-UPS RT provides premium, regulated sine-wave power
for the sensitive loads. This unit is also compatible with generator set
where it takes in raw power and puts out premium, regulated sine-wave
power.
Wide input voltage range
A 160-280 VAC input voltage range, at full load, means
less time on battery while preserving the battery capacity for blackout
conditions. The input voltage to the UPS can go as low as 100 VAC, at
lighter loads without using the batteries, and still provide conditioned
utility power to the load.
Scalable Run Time
Unlimited number of matching battery packs can be added
to increase the runtime to the desired amount.
Built-in automatic bypass
Ensures seamless power to the loads even in the event of
an electronics failure or an overload condition
Hot Swap Batteries
Ensures continuous operation of the load even when the
batteries are being replaced
Downloadable Firmware
Makes the UPS field-upgradeable
Cold-start
You can power on the unit without any input power. This
provides temporary emergency battery power when the utility power is out.
Intelligent Battery Management
Micro-processor controlled battery charging and
diagnostic testing ensures maximum battery life.
Faster Recharge Time
The Smart-UPS battery charging system is microprocessor
controlled to precisely charge batteries in less time than legacy UPS
systems. This makes your system available more quickly for subsequent power
disturbances.
Manageability
Audible Alarms
Actively let you know if the unit is on battery, if the
battery is low or if there is an overload condition.
Status Indicator LED's
Provides operational status information of the UPS at a
glance. Does not require the use of a computer. Bar meters and status
indicators are simple to use and easy to understand.
Automatic Self Test
The product automatically performs a self-test every two
weeks. This ensures you will be alerted to degraded batteries before they
wear out. Through software, or the push of a button, you may perform
self-tests anytime.
Load Meter
The Load Meter prevents you from exceeding the UPS
capacity. The Volt Meter reports utility line voltage and battery capacity,
allowing you to gauge how much time remains before the batteries are
depleted. An alarm sounds when batteries are low allowing you to save data
and shutdown your system.
Built-in SmartSlot
Choose from various management cards to customize your
UPS and increase overall system availability. Options include; out-of-band
management and remote power off. SmartSlot management cards are sold
separately.
Software
PowerChute Business Edition, departmental-level UPS
management software, provides safe system shutdown and UPS management for
servers and workstations.
Network Management
UPS Network Management Card with Environmental Monitoring
provides management of the UPS by connecting directly to the network via
web browser, Telnet or SSH. Notification features inform you of problems as
they occur. For protected servers, graceful unattended shutdown software is
provided.
Terminal Mode Programmability
Terminal mode is a menu-driven interface that allows for
quick and easy configuration of the UPS. This interface can be accessed
using a computer and a common serial communication application, such as
Hyperterminal. Terminal mode is ideal for customers who are not using
PowerChute plus or a management card.
Adaptability
Rack/Tower Convertible
The UPS has a flexible form factor enabling it to be
installed into a variety of user environments
1:1 and 3:1 Combo in a Single Product
This feature allows the same product to be wired either
to a single phase input or a three phase input. Available in only Smart-UPS
RT 7500/10000 VA models.
Multiple Output Voltages
The 230V nominal output voltage can be programmed for 220V
or 240V operation.
Programmable Frequency
This UPS automatically provides 50 or 60 Hz, and can be
user-set to either value, including desired tolerances.
Downloadable Firmware Makes the UPS field-upgradeable.
Protection
Lightning and Surge Protection
When measured via ANSI/IEEE 587 Category ''A" and
"B" tests, the suppression performance of the APC Smart-UPS is
superior to virtually all separate surge suppressors.
Network-grade line conditioning
Full time EMI/RFI filters prevent line noise from causing
data errors
Sine-wave output
Sine-wave output provides assurance of compatibility with
all types of loads.
Unattended Safe & Graceful Shutdown

broad range of electrical equipment - from mainframe computers to Large
Corporation-wide installations, production lines, electronic control
systems and telecommunication equipment. Up to nine Silcon units can be
paralleled to serve special demands for power upgrading or redundancy

Economy
Input Power Factor Correction
The APC Silcon Series is power factor corrected on the
input side, which ensures that the input power factor is always 1
regardless of load and mains voltage. This considerably reduces
installation costs by allowing the use of smaller cables and smaller fuses.
In addition, the APC Silcon Series reduces the costs associated with
generator back-up, as input power factor correction eliminates the need for
oversizing the generator.
Delta Conversion On-line Technology
The APC Silcon Series provides an economic approach to
power protection strategies featuring efficiencies up to 96.5%. The on-line
efficiency translates directly into reduced operating costs by minimizing
heat loss and consequently lowering both electricity and air conditioning
consumption.
Full-rated Power with kVA equaling kW
The full-rated inverter of the APC Silcon Series is a
perfect match for today's power-factor corrected computer loads,
eliminating the need for an oversized UPS.
Temperature Compensated Battery Charging
Temperature Compensated Battery Charging provides
prolonged battery life by regulating the charge voltage according to actual
battery temperature.
Availability
Built-in static bypass switch
The built-in static bypass switch enables the UPS to
transfer the load to utility power, without interruption, in case of heavy
overload or faulty conditions.
200% overload capability
The APC Silcon Series has the ability to supply 200%
overload in normal operation for a period of 60 seconds. This enables the
system to handle inrush currents, sudden peak loads and output faults
without transitioning to bypass. The result is increased availability.
Paralleling Features for Capacity and Redundancy
If required for capacity or redundancy, APC Silcon Series
can easily be expanded by paralleling units. Up to four units can be
configured in parallel without the need for an external control cabinet.
For even higher power requirements or redundancy a total of up to nine
units can be paralleled to supply the load.
Manageability
Intelligent Battery Management
The APC Silcon Series features intelligent battery
monitoring and temperature-compensated battery charging. Battery data is
continuously compared to pre-programmed data in the monitoring software to
ensure reliable batteries. A reduction in battery capacity automatically
triggers an alarm.
Smart Slot
Choose from various management cards to customize your
UPS and increase overall system availability. Options include; out-of-band
management and remote power off. SmartSlot management cards are sold
separately.
Network Management
UPS Network Management Card with Environmental Monitoring
provides management of the UPS by connecting directly to the network via
web browser, Telnet or SSH. Notification features inform you of problems as
they occur. For protected servers, graceful unattended shutdown software is
provided.
Multiple System Shutdown
Provides graceful, unattended shutdown for the connected
servers should an extended power outage occur.
